Will there be another season on Netflix?

If you’ve been missing video stores in the era of streaming services, then (ironically) Netflix has just the show for you. Blockbuster will be the latest workplace comedy to win everyone over with its sense of humor, and it’s no doubt viewers will want to know all about Blockbuster season 2 after they finish binge-watching the first season.

Randall Park stars in the series as Timmy Yoon, the manager of the last remaining Blockbuster video store in the United States. Without corporate support to stay afloat, Timmy must lean on his staff to remind their customers what’s special about renting a movie rather than streaming one.

In the midst of their restructuring as a small business, Timmy also balances his growing crush on long-time friend and co-worker Eliza (Melissa Fumero). You already know your heart is ready for another will-they-or-won’t-they workplace romance in the same vein as The Office’s Jim and Pam and Superstore’s Amy and Jonah.

Following the hilarious but shocking events of the first season finale, will Netflix bring the new comedy series back for another season? Here’s what we know so far about the possibility of Blockbuster season 2 coming to our watch lists.

Is Blockbuster season 2 happening on Netflix?

As of Blockbuster’s release on Nov. 3, 2022, Netflix hasn’t renewed the series for a second season. Some comedy series in the past have been granted two-season orders, but Blockbuster season 2 isn’t a lock quite yet. However, Netflix also hasn’t canceled the series either.

Typically, Netflix will announce a renewal for its original series in no less than a month after its release, but it could take up to three months to learn about the fate of Blockbuster season 2. Netflix will be looking closely at the viewership figures within the first month of release, as well as the completion rate. Make sure to finish the season if you want another one!

Based on the season 1 finale, there’s so much more story left to tell in the Blockbuster world. We’re not ready to say goodbye to Timmy, Eliza, and the whole staff yet. Who doesn’t want to watch this slow burn romance play out? Just like Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community, and other workplace or hangout sitcoms, Blockbuster deserves time to thrive.
