Will there be another season on Netflix?

A new Netflix series has arrived, and it will be the tear-jerker of the year. From Scratch comes from executive producer Reese Witherspoon and stars the talented Zoe Saldaña, who appeared in 2022’s hit Netflix film The Adam Project.

Based on the memoir From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily and Finding Home by Tembi Locke (who co-created and executive produced the series), Saldaña stars as Amy Wheeler, an American student who takes her studies abroad to Sicily. While in Italy, Amy finds love with chef Lino (Eugenio Mastrandrea), and their romance soon turns into a life and family.

As Amy and Lino build their lives together, they face challenges from their different backgrounds and Lino’s unexpected health struggles. From Scratch will hit you right in the emotions, as those who have read the moving Reese’s Book Club pick know all too well.

Following the first season’s eight episodes, will there be another season of From Scratch on Netflix? Here’s what fans should expect after watching the new drama series.

Will there be a From Scratch season 2?

Unfortunately, there will not be a second season of From Scratch. If you loved watching the eight-episode series and wanted to see From Scratch season 2, that won’t be happening. Netflix designated the series as a limited series.

Because the limited series is based on Locke’s memoir, the story the series tells is finite. Of course, there’s always more story to tell based on someone’s life and experiences, but in this case, the series appears to have been meant as a conscious one-off. If we’ve learned anything about limited series, most are better off that way.

It’s highly unlikely that the series will be renewed for another season, no matter how successfully the series performs in viewership numbers. The streaming service has released many popular limited series like Echoes, Devil in Ohio, Maid, Midnight Mass, and more without giving the green light for another season.
