Spoilers from The Midnight Club ahead!
Is The Midnight Club season 2 happening?
It’s unknown at the moment. Since it just premiered on Oct. 7, it’ll likely be a while before we hear back from Netflix on the show’s fate. It typically takes a month or so before the streamer comes to a decision.
Truthfully, the first four weeks of a show’s release are the most important. Depending on how many people watch the show in the first 28 days of its release is one way in which Netflix determines if a show should be renewed or canceled. If the viewership numbers are high by Netflix’s standards in the first month, The Midnight Club will likely be renewed. However, it’s important to mention that there are also other factors at play in Netflix’s decision-making process. But viewership numbers are the most important. Overall, it’s imperative that many people watch the first season in its entirety within the first four weeks to help the show’s chances of renewal.
The good news is that the first season ends on a cliffhanger with Dr. Stanton revealed to be a part of the Paragon cult, which now makes sense why she let Shasta (Julia Jayne) go. Also, the show ends with seven patients still residing at Brightcliffe. So a potential second season could continue their stories.
However, this show could be a one-and-done type of situation. All of Mike Flanagan’s shows on Netflix have only had one season, so this could happen with The Midnight Club. We hope this isn’t the case and that the mystery-horror series returns for a second season. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Stay tuned to Netflix Life because we’ll keep you posted on the renewal status!
