Will there be a sequel to That’s Amor on Netflix?

Netflix has been releasing romantic comedies all throughout the summer and we’re loving every single release! On Aug. 25, the streamer dropped That’s Amor and people immediately stopped everything they were doing to see what the rom-com was about. As of Aug. 26, the film is sitting at the No. 7 spot on Netflix’s top 10 movie list, so I’d say people are definitely tuned in. Now, people are wondering if there will be a That’s Amor 2. Is a sequel in the works? We shared everything we know about a potential That’s Amor 2 below.

That’s Amor is a new Netflix original film directed by Shaun Paul Piccinino. John Ducey wrote the screenplay from a story by Ali Afshar and Tiffany Dupont. The film stars Riley Dandy, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi, Nancy Lenehan, Daniel Edward Mora, Bryan Craig, Arlene Tur, Kimberley Drummond, Christina Moore, Rose Portillo, and Suleka Mathew.

The story follows a woman named Sofia, whose job and relationship implode on the same day. Now having to start from scratch, Sofia signs up for a cooking class with her mom and meets a Spanish chef who sweeps her off her feet.

So will there be a sequel to this heartwarming movie? Here’s what we know.

Is That’s Amor 2 happening?

As of Aug. 26, there’s no word on a sequel. This isn’t surprising because the movie just recently came out. It usually takes a month or so before Netflix announces if a film will have a second installment. The streamer needs time to tally up the viewership numbers. Viewership, among other factors, plays a huge part in Netflix’s decision-making process. If enough people watch the film, the streamer might greenlight the film for a sequel.

However, That’s Amor wraps up nicely. So a sequel wouldn’t really be necessary. Also, Netflix movies in the romantic comedy genre rarely get sequels. So, as much as I hate to admit it, there’s very little likelihood of a That’s Amor 2.

But never say never, right? We’ll just have to wait and see what Netflix decides. As always, we’ll be sure to update you if Netflix gives the go-ahead for a That’s Amor 2.
