We’re nearing A Jazzman’s Blues release date and can hardly contain our excitement! It’s Tyler Perry’s passion project that he’s been working on for a very long time, and in just a few days, everyone will finally be able to see it. To prepare for its release, we shared the cast list so you’ll know who you can expect to see in the film.
A Jazzman’s Blues is a Netflix original movie written, produced, and helmed by creative genius Tyler Perry. Actually, the screenplay for the film was the first script Perry had ever written. If you’re unfamiliar with Perry, he’s best known for his portrayal as the wisecracking, street-smart, yet loving character, Madea. He’s also known for his shows and movies House of Payne, Meet the Browns, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Why Did I Get Married?, Good Deeds, A Fall from Grace and A Madea Homecoming.
Set in the ’40s in the deep South, A Jazzman’s Blues tells a forbidden love story between two star-crossed lovers. The story begins with the couple’s initial meeting as teenagers and spans over 40 years.

Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer star in the leading roles as Bayou and LeAnne in the film. Both are fairly new to the entertainment industry. Boone is known for his roles in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Seven Seconds, Premature and Wheels. Pfeiffer is best known for her role as Eliza Hamilton in the acclaimed musical Hamilton. She also had small roles in the TV shows Curb Your Enthusiasm, Scandal and The Good Fight.
