Baroness Von Bon Bon is one of several popular characters in the indie game Cuphead and she makes her debut in The Cuphead Show season 2. She presides over Sugarland, which is basically a giant candy-filled land.
In the game, Baroness Von Bon Bon is a tricky boss who heralds her candy minions forward toward Cuphead and Mugman, including Whippet Creampup, a giant cake-like castle with whipped cream turrets. The character is inspired by classic 1930s figures like Letty Lynton, Bebe Daniels, Betty Grable and Loretta Young—maybe even a little bit of Marie Antoinette.
Given her popularity, it’s not at all surprising that the Baroness and Sugarland eventually found their way into the Netflix series. But who voices the character in the show?
Who voices Baroness Von Bon Bon in The Cuphead Show season 2?
Zoë Moss makes her voice-acting debut in the series as the Baroness. She actually announced it on her Twitter the day before the show premiered along with sharing a brief clip of her performance.
Zoë works as a storyboard artist on The Cuphead Show and has previously worked on the Netflix series BoJack Horseman as a character designer. She is also the storyboard director on The Patrick Star Show, which premiered in July 2021 and was renewed for a second season in March 2022.
Her voice for the Baroness sounds a little like Harley Quinn and it’s very fitting for the overall vibe of the character. She appears in an episode titled “Sweet Temptation” about Cuphead’s lack of self-control as he finds himself transported to Sugarland.
Fans of the game will find a lot of fun parallels to the boss fight. Of course, as appealing as a place where you can eat all the sugary treats you want sounds great… but there is always a catch.
What do you think about Zoë Moss’ performance as Baroness Von Bon Bon? The Cuphead Show season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
