Netflix’s new comedy series, Mo, will tell the story of a Palestinian refugee trying to make ends meet for he and his family as they live in Houston, Texas. The new show stars Mohammed “Mo” Amer in the titular role.
Amer might be a familiar face to Netflix viewers. The actor and stand-up comedian had his own Netflix comedy special, Mo Amer: The Vagabond. Now he’s partnered up with streamer once again to create and executive produce the series with Ramy Youssef.
Also joining them with EP duties are Ravi Nandan, Hallie Sekoff, Harris Danow, Luvh Rakhe, and director Solvan “Slick” Naim. Joining the star onscreen are Farah Bsieso as Yusra, Omar Elba as Sameer, Teresa Ruiz as Maria, and Tobe Nwigwe as Nick.
The new show comes out this week! So when should you set those alarms?
What time is Mo released on Netflix?
As is the usual case for new Netflix releases, Mo will be released on the streamer Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022 at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET.
There’s only eight, half hour episodes. For those on the west coast, it isn’t too late of a watch if you choose to at least watch the first couple of installments. But east coasters might want to wait until the next day, especially if you have work or school!
Mo centers around Mo Najjar who straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and the many struggles he faces as a Palestinian refugee. With no citizenship in the U.S. or Palestine, he and his family are constantly living one step away from asylum on the path to U.S. citizenship.
Because he doesn’t have proper immigration papers, Mo can’t get a regular job. So the Palestinian refugee resorts to selling merchandise like sunglasses, purses, and watches to make money to support his family. While he, his resilient and spiritual mother, sister, and older brother live in Texas, Mo will learn to adapt to his new world. But getting ahead in life comes with several setbacks.
The eight-episode season of Mo premieres Wednesday, Aug. 24 on Netflix.
