Unsolved Mysteries season 3 episode 1 recap: “Mystery at Mile Marker 45”

The first episode of volume 3 tells the story of an 18-year-old woman named Tiffany Valiante from New Jersey. The recent high school graduate was said to be great at sports, got good grades in school, and was overall a very happy person. So when she disappeared from her family’s home after a party one night in 2015 and was found dead just hours later, her loved ones did not believe the supposed cause of death.

What happened to Tiffany Valiante?

Tiffany was struck by a New Jersey Transit train at around 11:00 p.m. that night and it was quickly ruled a suicide. The transit workers had different stories about what happened, and there are a few details about the nature of her death that might suggest foul play. For starters, some of her clothes had been missing and she was walking barefoot when she was struck. Her family also found her cell phone miles away from the area she was killed.

It didn’t take long for her family to suspect she might’ve been kidnapped and could’ve either been trying to run away from someone or maybe even thrown out of a moving vehicle onto the train tracks.

There are also some details about Tiffany’s private life that are worth noting. For one, she had recently broken up with her girlfriend at the time of her death, but apparently, the split was amicable and she was in good spirits. That’s what her family thinks, at least. She had begun texting with another woman soon after the breakup. The night Tiffany went missing, she got into a verbal fight with one of her friends, and her mom found out that Tiffany stole a debit card. Why would she need that? Was she trying to flee from someone?

Unfortunately, we don’t know the answers to so many big questions, and Tiffany’s family will always be haunted by that.
