Virgin River season 4 recently arrived on Netflix and fans are already hungry for more. Luckily for them, it sounds like Netflix is all-in on the series, with a fifth season already filming and more seasons potentially in the works. But beyond that, Netflix is also planning to develop another popular romantic book series into a series: Ransom Canyon.
Ransom Canyon is a series of Western romances by New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas. During a recent conversation with Deadline, Netflix drama head Jinny Howe announced that the streamer would be adapting the show, which could become the streamer’s next big hit.
The series will be a contemporary Western romance about a multi-generational family set on a ranch. It will deliver with a beautiful setting and, of course, the swoonworthy romance!
Ransom Canyon is describe as Virgin River meets Yellowstone
During her conversation, Howe described the series as “Virgin River meets Yellowstone,” which should make anyone who is a fan of both shows quite happy. Given the ranch setting, it sounds like we’ll be getting a mixture of family drama with the sweet, romantic moments we’ve come to expect from Virgin River.
“We think that it’s going to deliver on all the romance and again it will be a really beautiful vista and setting, very escapist. It is in development in early stages, but we’re very excited about it; it feels very promising,” Howe continued.
As Deadline points out, it’s no surprise that Netflix would want to replicate Virgin River‘s success. The fourth season generated over 277 million hours during its first 28 days on the service. Similarly, Yellowstone has proven to be a massive hit for ViacomCBS and already launched one successful spinoff with 1883 and there are two more in the works.
