Is the new Hellraiser movie on Netflix? (where to watch)

There is a new Hellraiser movie out this weekend, and many horror fans are excited to see this fresh new take on the iconic film series that currently boasts 11 films, multiple comic books, and other merchandise.

The series has been around since the 1980s when Clive Barker first published his novella The Hellbound Heart, which is what kicked off the story of the Cenobites and Pinhead. The Hellraiser films center on a puzzle box that can open the gateway to the realm where the Cenobites come from.

While Barker created the 1987 movie as the writer and director but later sold the rights to the character and story. However, in 2020 he officially regained the rights after a lengthy legal battle. Barker was initially attached to write and direct the 2022 remake, but that was over a decade ago when the film was still being shopped around and doctored.

The final form, now streaming on Hulu, was written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, with The Night House director David Bruckner stepping in to direct the film. Original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley was also going to reprise the role, but Sense8 actress Jamie Clayton was later cast, and she has received significant praise for her work in the movie thus far.
