Charlie Hunnam and Richard Roxburgh star in the new drama thriller television show Shantaram, based on the book by Gregory David Roberts. The story is actually inspired by Roberts’ own life and follows an Australian bank robber who flees the country to find refuge in India.
Shantaram is set in the 1980s after the main character, Lin (Hunnam), breaks out of prison and escapes to India. The series begins by recounting Lin’s escape and how he leaves behind Australia for a new home, hoping to hide out among the millions that live in India. But not long after arriving, Lin finds himself drawn to a mysterious woman named Karla (Antonia Desplat).
The series has received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, but the first three episodes are now out, and many fans have been looking forward to the show and plan on watching it regardless.
Is Shantaram on Netflix?
No, Shantaram is not on Netflix because it is an Apple TV+ original series. However, Charlie Hunnam fans can currently watch Crimson Peak, Triple Frontier, and The Gentlemen on Netflix, all of which feature the actor.
