Remember the 2013 movie The Bling Ring from Sofia Coppola that starred Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga? Do you remember the scandalous true story that inspired it? Netflix is about to release a new Bling Ring docuseries, titled The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist and it will reveal the untold truth about those infamous burglaries.
They say truth is stranger than fiction and I think the entirety of the “Bling Ring” saga is proof of that. One of the most notable names to emerge from this is Alexis Haines (formerly Neiers), who previously appeared on the short-lived reality television series Pretty Wild.
Haines is participating in The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist along with Nick Norgo (formerly Prugo) both of whom were convicted for their roles in the Bling Ring heists.
According to the E! exclusive, Haines is actually really excited that the Netflix docuseries has been made.
“I am so happy that a documentary has finally been made. The director, Miles [Blayden-Ryall], did a great job at illuminating the nuance and complexities of the Bling Ring case as a whole. I’m excited for people to hear the truth about what actually went down,” she told the outlet.
Alexis claimed she was only at the burglary of Orlando Bloom’s home in 2009 and pleaded no contest to residential burglary. She was sentenced to six months in county jail with a two-year suspended sentence and three years of probation. She also had to Bloom restitution. Alexis ended up spending 30 days in jail.
Nick Norgo pled guilty to two counts of residential burglary. he received a two-year prison sentence but was released after one year for good behavior and time served.
The series will also feature Andrea Arlington-Dunne, Gabrielle Hames, Audrina Patridge and Perez Hilton.
The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist release date
The three-part docuseries will be released on September 21, 2022. Netflix content drops at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET.
The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist synopsis
We don’t have an official trailer for the upcoming documentary series yet, but Netflix did release the official synopsis to give us an idea of what to expect.
First there was the reality series, then came a Hollywood movie— but the truth about the Bling Ring burglaries has never been told…until now. 10 years after the notorious heists, the culprits have served their jail time and are coming forward to tell the real story behind the Hollywood Hills home-invasions that gripped the nation. A cautionary tale for teens today, the docuseries shows what can happen when a fame-and-celebrity-obsessed culture meets the rise of social media and spins wildly out of control.
