Did John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer ever meet in real life?


Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is finally streaming on Netflix and it’s what everyone’s watching. The limited series centers around the true story of Jeffrey Dahmer and the horrific crimes he committed between 1978 and 1991. But Dahmer wasn’t the only serial killer going on a murderous killing spree in the ’70s. Infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy aka “The Killer Clown,” had been murdering young men and boys in Illinois from 1972 to his arrest in December 1978. Just six months before Gacy’s arrest, Dahmer had committed his first murder.

John Wayne Gacy was found guilty of all 33 murders of which he was accused and sentenced to death. While he was on death row, Dahmer committed more and more murders in Wisconsin until he was captured and arrested in 1991. Gacy didn’t die until 1994, so was there ever a chance encounter between him and Dahmer while they were both in prison?

No. Dahmer started his prison sentence in 1992 at Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. During this time, Gacy was on death row at Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois. Gacy remained at Menard Correctional Center until 1994, when he was transferred to the Stateville Correctional Center for his execution. On May 10, 1994, Gacy was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center. On that same day, Dahmer was baptized in the prison whirlpool.

Is John Wayne Gacy in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story?

Yes. John Wayne Gacy appears in the final episode of the season. He is portrayed by Dominic Burgess. At the beginning of the episode, Gacy is shown drugging, strangling, and then drowning one of his victims in 1977. Later in the episode, Dahmer watches an interview of Gacy on a TV in prison. Then, Dahmer goes to talk to the minister in prison about Gacy. Dahmer tells the minister that even though people think he and Gacy are similar, he believes they’re different. He tells the minister that while he admitted to his crimes, Gacy refuses to confess. The last time Gacy is shown in the show is when he’s executed.
