A Bridgerton Story release updates, cast, exclusive clip, photos, and more


Bridgerton fans, get ready because a new Bridgerton prequel series will be coming to Netflix! We’ve begun keeping track of every new piece of information about Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story to create a guide to share with you.

In May 2021, Netflix announced to the world that a Bridgerton prequel series was in the works and that the story would center around the origins of Queen Charlotte. Shonda Rhimes had signed on as the main writer, showrunner, and an executive producer. Longtime partners of Rhimes, Betsy Beers and Tom Verica, joined as executive producers, with Verica directing as well.

Then, in March 2022, Netflix had set the upcoming period drama’s full cast with newcomer India Amarteifio cast in the lead role.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story release updates

Sadly, the period drama does not have a release date yet. However, it’s been reported that a release date is set for sometime in 2023. You can definitely count on us to share the official release date as soon as it’s announced.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story cast

As we mentioned earlier, India Amarteifio will be playing a Young Queen Charlotte in the series. You might know her from shows like Sex EducationDoctor Who and The Tunnel. Joining her as a Young King George is actor Corey Mylchreest. Bridgerton alums Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh, and Ruth Gemmell will be reprising their roles in the prequel series.

On June 8, Netflix announced two new recurring characters named Vivian Ledger and Lord Ledger. Katie Brayben will be playing Vivian Ledger and Keir Charles will be portraying Lord Ledger.

07/07/2022: Netflix announced that Connie Jenkins-Greig will be portraying the role of Young Violet Ledger, the daughter of Vivian and Lord Ledger. Violet is described as a “kind and inquisitive teenager who has not yet entered the marriage mart … or famously become a Bridgerton.” So it looks like we now know who will be playing a Young Violet Bridgerton.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story filming

As reported by Just Jared, production officially started on the prequel series on April 19 in London, England. Golda Rosheuvel, Hugh Sachs, and several other cast members were photographed on set filming.

However, the show’s director Tom Verica posted a photo of something related to the series on his Instagram with a caption reading, “New chapter. Day 1 filming. Never gets old. #DirectorsPOV Wait til you see what we’ve got in store!” This was posted on March 28. So production may have started a little earlier than April 19. Filming officially wrapped on Aug. 30, according to an Instagram post by Verica.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story exclusive clip

Netflix dropped an exclusive clip of some of the cast (India Ria Amarteifio, Golda Rosheuvel, and Adjoa Andoh) discussing working together on the upcoming period drama. The video wraps up with a special look at India Ria Amarteifio as Charlotte.
